5th Combat Training Squadron (5 CTS)

We are the U.S. Air Force's premiere distributed training center in Europe, providing enhanced joint and combined warfighter readiness training through live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulation capabilities. Our mission is to support training for joint, allied, and partner-nation warfighters at tactical, operational, and strategic levels using integrated systems connected by diverse modeling and simulation networks.

The 5 CTS is a part of the USAFE-AFAFRICA Warfare Center (UAWC), formerly known as the Warrior Preparation Center (WPC). Col. Richard “Moody" Sutter founded the WPC at Einsiedlerhof Air Station, Germany in 1983 as a first-of-its-kind simulation center to support Battle Staff training. Over the years it evolved, constantly innovating and incorporating new capabilities such as Air & Space Joint LVC training. Today, the UAWC is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to enhancing warfighter readiness across the European theater. It is comprised of seven separate squadrons with distinct missions, hosting joint multinational exercises and delivering an array of education and training courses to U.S. forces, allies, and partners.

5 CTS posts specific information regarding our exercises and events to our private APAN SharePoint page. Access to the 5 CTS SharePoint is restricted to current UAWC visitors, exercise participants, and staff. You may request access to our APAN SharePoint pages by emailing 5CTS.MS@us.af.mil. In your email please provide your APAN user name and the name of the exercise in which you plan to participate.
