Are you an APAN community owner? If so, our USSOUTHCOM APAN Support Team wants to make sure you are prepared for the APAN 8 upgrade which is less than a month away. Here is a list of 8 things every USSOUTHCOM community owner needs to know about APAN 8.
1) Community home pages will revert to their default setting. Therefore, only the Activity Feed widget will be available on a community’s home page in APAN 8.0. All other widgets need to be re-added after the upgrade.
2) While the community’s content will transfer automatically to APAN 8, content within Generic Content and Unfiltered HTML widgets will not. Follow these steps to save your content prior to upgrade to APAN 8.
3) All current Calendar applications will be replaced with a new calendar application. Ensure you save your content and add it to the new calendar after the upgrade.
4) SharePoint Document Libraries and SharePoint Custom List widgets will be available on APAN 8; however, the SharePoint Task List widget will NOT. Ensure you have a plan to use another APAN capability.
5) APAN 8 will include enhancements for maps including a new tabbed page called “Maps” with new features to allow creation of custom map content.
6) APAN 8 is designed to facilitate community development. For more details, you can view these slides or this recorded demo.
7) While there are numerous posts on APAN describing upcoming changes, your community members may not be aware of the upgrade. You can use APAN features with integrated email notifications (Blogs, Forums, Conversations) to inform your community members.
8) The USSOUTHCOM APAN Support Team is available to answer your questions, concerns, or provide assistance in preparation for the APAN 8 upgrade. Contact us via email or at (305) 437-2491 or stay tuned to our Updates on the Partnership for the Americas APAN community for more information. If you no longer have a need for your community, please inform our team and we can assist you with its archival and/or deletion.
