Connections Between Community Members

Within APAN's Verint platform, members can connect in several ways. The platform offers various communication tools to foster engagement and collaboration:

• Following: Members can track the activities of others without needing a formal connection.
• Colleague (formerly Friendship): Members can add others as colleagues. Colleagues have additional capabilities like private messaging and chatting. By default, adding someone as a colleague also includes following, but you can unfollow a colleague if desired.

Connect with a Colleague

Send a Colleague Request

To connect with another user as a colleague, follow these steps:

1. Hover over the user’s avatar from the activity stream, content page, status message, comment, search result, or profile.
2. Click the three dots.
3. Click Request Colleague.
4. Type a message in the request window.
5. Click Send Request.

Cancel a Colleague Request

If you need to cancel a colleague request:

1. Click your user avatar or search for them using their username in the main search bar under People.
2. Navigate to Profile.
3. Click Connect.
4. Select Cancel Colleague Request from the drop-down list.
5. Click Cancel Colleague Request.

Remove a Colleague

If you need to remove a colleague:

1. Click your user avatar or search for them using their username in the main search bar under People.
2. Navigate to Profile.
3. Click Connect.
4. Select Remove as Colleague from the drop-down list.
5. Click OK.

Following Users (With or Without a Colleague Request)

Following allows you to track an APAN user’s activities without being colleagues. You will receive notifications of their public actions, but won’t have the option for private messaging unless you add them as a colleague.

Follow a User Without Becoming a Colleague

1. Hover over the user’s avatar from the activity stream, content page, status message, comment, search result, or profile.
2. Click the three dots.
3. Click Follow.

Stop Following a User

1. Hover over the user’s avatar from the activity stream, content page, status message, comment, search result, or profile.
2. Click the three dots.
3. Click Unfollow.
