Create Sub Group from Home Page

You can create a subgroup from a group home page if you are a group owner.

  1. From a group home page, click New. The selection drop-down list appears. 
  2. Select Create a Sub-Group. The Create a Group page appears. 
  3. Fill in the following fields:
    1. Name - This name will also become the URL.
    2. Description - A description will appear in APAN Search and select widgets.
    3. Group privacy - Choose Private (Listed) or Private (Unlisted). Listed will allow your group to be found in an APAN search. Unlisted will prohibit your group from being found in an APAN search.
    4. Parent group - Leave the parent group used by default (the current group where you're creating the subgroup).
    5. Enable group status updates - Enables messages for this group to be displayed in the Activity Story Stream. You can choose to enable this or not.

     

  4. Click Create. The Set up your group window appears.
  5. Select from these options and/or execute the actions:
    1. Group Avatar - To add a custom avatar image to the subgroup, click Upload a photo.
      1. Avatars should use a 200px by 200px (or larger) image.
    2. Applications - Select the check box for any application you want the subgroup to contain. Applications can also be added after sub group creation.
  6. Click Set up. The "group is set up" message appears.

  7. Click View the group.

Create a subgroup from the Manage Sub Groups panel

  1. Navigate to the group where you wish to add a subgroup.
  2. Mouse over Management (black and white pencil icon in upper left corner).
  3. Click Manage Group. 
  4. Click Sub-groups. 
  5. Click Add Sub-group. The Add Sub-group panel appears. Fill in the following fields:
    1. Name - This name will also become the URL.
    2. Description - A description will appear in APAN Search and select widgets.
    3. Group privacy - Choose Private (Listed) or Private (Unlisted). Listed will allow your group to be found in an APAN search. Unlisted will prohibit your group from being found in an APAN search.
  6. Click Save. The changes are applied. You may need to reload the page to see them.

Member Permissions

Sub Groups permissions are independent from the parent group. "Inheriting" permissions from the parent, as is available in SharePoint sub-sites, is not available on Verint Sub Groups.

The Owner who builds the sub group is the sole owner of that new sub group. All permissions must be added manually to the new sub group.
