Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD)
AOARD is the International Office of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Basic Research Technology Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Located in Tokyo, Japan, the AOARD mission is to Find and Fund groundbreaking basic research and Foster collaboration between AFRL scientists and engineers with their counterparts in East Asian and Western Pacific countries.
AOARD programs include making professional visits and personal contacts to identify and understand current and planned R&D programs; arranging for exchange visits between Air Force and overseas scientists and engineers (S&Es); promoting quality science and scientific interchange by providing support to workshops and conferences; and generating and monitoring contracts and grants between the Air Force Material Command (AFMC) R&D organizations and overseas laboratories/institutions.
