2023 Annual Grantees'/Contractors' Meeting for AFOSR Mechanics of Multifunctional Materials and Microsystems (M^4) Program

The 2023 Annual Grantees'/Contractors' Meeting for AFOSR Program on “Mechanics of Multifunctional Materials and Microsystems (M^4)” will be held on 23-26 October 2023 at the Cohen Conference Room (ENG VI, Room 134) on the campus of the Univ. of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).   Our meeting host, Prof. Yong Chen at UCLA, has also reserved the First Floor Breezeway and adjoining Patio for annual gathering of multifunctional materials and structures community.   Organized as an "in-person" conference with the assistance of AFOSR/BRICC staff members for meeting registration, our annual meeting will host the following program review activities:

(a)  Annual Review of all traditional core grants with single PI’s, YIP grants, and HBCU/MI grants managed by AFOSR M^4 portfolio;

(b)  The 3rd Annual Review for UIUC Center of Excellence (COE) Program in “Phase II: Self-healing to Morphogenic Manufacturing” (Follow-up of the 2nd Annual Review as part of the 6th Multifunctional Materials for Defense Workshop held at BRICC on 5-9 December 2022) (PI: Prof. Nancy Sottos, Univ. of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign);

(c)  The 4th Annual Review for DoD MURI Program on “Brain-Inspired Networks for Multifunctional Intelligent Systems in Aerial Vehicles” (Follow-up of the 3rd Annual Review and Workshop on “Neuromorphic Networks: Future Perspectives” held at UCLA on 24-25 October 2022) (PI: Prof. Yong Chen, UCLA);

(d)  Kick-off Meeting for Basic Research Initiative on “Hybrid Biomolecular Synapses for Multifunctional Sensing and Neuromorphic Computing" (PI: Prof. Andy Sarles, Univ. of Tennessee, Knoxville);

(e)  Kick-off Meeting for DoD Mission Partnership Program on “Bio-inspired Power Sources from Soft Materials” (Co-PI's: Prof. Joseph Najem, Pennsylvania State Univ.; Prof. Michael Mayer, Univ. of Fribourg, Switzerland).

The daily meeting sessions are planned to run from 8:15 am to 5:00 pm in Pacific Daylight Saving Time with at least 3 breaks for meal or refreshments.  The 2023 Annual Grantees'/Contractors' Meeting for AFOSR M^4 Program is open to all interested AFRL, DoD, and US Government employees and contractors. All participants are required to register through the AFOSR APAN website.
