Responsibilities

a. Advise the commander on issues related to religion, ethics, morale, and morals.  Provide spiritual and religious support to the command by way of services, programs, visits, and counseling.

b. Perform or provide religious support to the unit by assisting the commander in providing for the free exercise of religion and religious, moral, and ethical leadership.  Chaplains execute their distinct religious support mission for Soldiers, members of other military services, family members, and authorized civilians in a variety of geographical locations, operational situations, and circumstances. 

 

Functions

a. Manage and execute USAR Strong Bonds programs in the AOR for all USAR Soldiers and Families.  Coordinate and collaborate with the surgeon, Family programs, and behavioral health personnel on Soldier and Family well-being issues.

b. Develop and maintain a network of chaplains and chaplain assistants throughout the region.  Manage the supervision of chaplain candidates assigned within the AOR in accordance with Department of the Army, Chief of Chaplains, Reserve Component Integration Directorate (DACH-RCI) guidance.  

c. RDs have responsibility of all training partnerships, and will coordinate with sponsor units for co-op training of Bravo Chaplain Detachments (CHs), as deemed necessary.  Sponsor units should not assume CDs would train with them or provide Religious Support unless specifically coordinated through their RD. Collaborate with FORSCOM to establish Regular Army training partnerships consistent with the doctrinal missions of the Alpha, Charlie and Delta CDs.
