All DOT employees, including deaf or hard of hearing employees, may be alerted to emergencies using the Department’s emergency notification system. Visual strobe lights placed throughout the building also flash to notify occupants of the need to evacuate.

Emergencies and disasters can strike quickly and without warning, forcing people to evacuate or to shelter in place in their home or workspace. For the millions of Americans who have disabilities, emergencies present additional challenges and careful planning for these considerations is essential.
NRNW continues to supports our military and civilian workforce, especially those who have special needs, during all types of emergencies. Since disabilities are both visible and invisible, it is often unclear who may need additional support and the best way to provide that support.
