Basic guidelines:

• Co-writers are allowed. Only one writer needs to submit.
• Focused on Sci-Fi writing
• Electronic submissions only
• Word doc preferred in .doc, .docx, will accept PDF
• Short story- 5000 WORD COUNT (8 page limit)
• 12 point font, single spaced, 8.5x11 page size
• Must include release form- or story will not be considered
• USG and DOD must clear writing through PAO
• Suggest reviewing attachments for more information

Some general rules:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at time of competition close
• The short story entered must NOT have been previously published
• Prefer best entry over multiple entries
• Any written material submitted may be freely used by the Army
• Best piece of advice we can give all writers is to submit material that highlights your unique voice– and unique story- what separates you and your short story from the pack.
