APAN Upgrades to SharePoint 2019

From September 23-29, 2023

The All Partners Access Network (APAN) is updating to SharePoint (SP) 2019. Users will experience intermittent interruption of service while using APAN's SP environment during this update. This upgrade will only affect APAN SP services. APAN Verint communities and other services will not be affected.

What are the Benefits of the Upgrade?

  • Phase 1 - Classic Look & Feel (similar to SP 2013)

    • ALL SP communities will have a new URL

    • ALL user saved bookmarks/URLs for SP 2013 will automatically be redirected to the new SP 2019 site collection/page/list

  • Phase 2 - (Date TBD) Modern Look & Feel (similar to SP Online)

How do Site Owners Prepare?

  • Socialize the new URL for SP sites

  • Consider alternatives for deprecated features

    • APAN Activity Webpart

    • InfoPath

    • SharePoint Designer

  • Verify functionality of custom webparts (e.g., Easy Tabs)

  • Exercise an alternate plan for information sharing, this upgrade will not be postponed for events scheduled during any phase of the upgrade

What to Expect?

  • Existing SP 2013 site collections will be set to "Read-Only" mode to prevent any add/edit/delete operations of the site's content

  • APAN users will continue to have access to view and download data

  • Intermittent interruption of services

  • Updates will be shared as often as possible

Virtual Training

Training and support will be available to users after the upgrade is complete.
