Workers' Compensation OWCP

This section will serve as a reliable source for Workers' Compensation under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) / The Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE) programs.

FECA provides Workers' Compensation coverage to federal workers around the world for employment-related injuries and occupational diseases. It administers four major disability compensation programs which provide wage replacement benefits, medical treatment, vocational rehabilitation and other benefits to certain workers who experience work-related injury or occupational disease.

UCFE program provides benefits for eligible unemployed former civilian Federal employees. The program is administered by States as agents of the Federal government. The program is operated under the same terms and conditions that apply to regular State Unemployment Insurance. In general, the law of the State in which your last official duty station in Federal civilian service was located will be the State law that determines benefit amounts, number of weeks benefits can be paid, and other eligibility conditions.

Why volunteer to deploy?

Deployment means different things to different people.  Where the professional growth that occurs while deployed impacts the Deployer's level of engagement with the organization and the mission, there may be financial benefits that incentivize the desire to volunteer for a deployment.  Financial benefits vary depending on the geographic location of the deployment, as well as the mission being supported.

It is important to understand the specifics of each location.  Some locations offer post differential; others do not.  Some locations support danger pay; others do not.  Some offer both, while others don't offer any monetary incentive other than potential over time.

Some people are moved by the opportunity to engage in different countries and support the local nationals as they work through their own challenges.  Other people view a deployment as an opportunity to work should er to shoulder with our Military Forces, understanding the significance of the role of the DoD abroad and how our duties impact the defense of our nation.

Regardless of what motivates you to volunteer, once you are deployed and you experience the professional growth, the team building, the bonding and the personal satisfaction of being part of something bigger, you understand the importance of the deployment and the continued support to our Soldiers.

The call is real.  Will you answer the call?
