Stanley Osher, UCLA | Mean Field Control of Mixtures on Manifolds

We design and solve mean field control (MFC) problems to follow the motion of the mixture of three liquids on the surface of a vessel. This is based on the novel models and computational methods done by the mean field game MURI team and the YIP awardee, funded by the AFOSR, computational mathematics program.

They are game-changing formulations with advanced computational algorithms from statistical physics, entropy-entropy flux metrics and primal-dual hybrid gradient algorithms. MFCs have diverse applications in social network modeling, robotics path planning, Al generative models, pandemic control and vaccine distribution, computer vision, and more recently computational physics.
