Hello, Everyone. This is Chaplain Sung Kim. I am Deputy CMD CH in the 63d Readiness Division. I pray you are well.
From time to time, each of us becomes depressed or frustrated as we proceed with the business of living. No one can always be full of cheerfulness in this life. But we do not need to be discouraged no matter how bad our circumstances may appear.
This implies the extraordinarily important quality of persistence in doing good for our life. When persistence runs out, we lose that staying power needed to reach our goals. Persistence is kept when we avoid discouragement from taking hold in our lives.
Through three deployments, I have seen many soldiers who became frustrated coming from their long-term deployment. My job was supposed to encourage them to have patience through ministries such as counseling, services, and visitations. I used to say, “Soldiers, the patience is a virtue.” When they were ready to come back home, there were no more frustrations. Soldiers learned many things from their hardships. The most important thing is that we can overcome any depression and frustration if we have faith and patience. I want to suggest four possible practical ways.
You do not need to be discouraged. Life offers tremendous values to the individual who has the power of patience. You need never become a victim of discouragement.
Recently, I got this email. “The Chaplain's Office has continue to lift our spirits as we manage what has been laid before us as a family. I cannot thank you all enough for taking the time out of your daily ups and downs to help me and my family process the pain and joy that’s surrounds us.
It is a huge encouragement from the Soldier to do this devotion for whole year and make about 400 devotions and thoughts of the day. We will keep providing CH section devotion video in the 63d RD social media. We can go through all this together.
The Apostle Paul says to us: “So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest.” (Galatians 6: 9)
The Lord bless you and keep you in his power.
Have a blessed day! Blood and Fire!
