Hello Everyone, This is Chaplain Sung Kim. I am Deputy CMD CH in the 63d Readiness Division. I pray you are well.

Today, I want to talk to you about what an important tool encouragement is because we are discouraged from all the negative news and comments.

When a 10 months old baby tries to stand up and walk, parents will encourage their baby. “You can do it. Oh great, you did it” even if the baby just walked two steps. But, when the baby grows, their parents might discourage their child. “You got only 80 points in math, you can do better.” What happened?” Parents want their children to succeed but they don't care how they're going to do it.

John Maxwell published a book, “Encouragement changes everything.” (I believe that it is true) Several times in my life, I have wanted to stop, but words or deeds of encouragement have kept me going. George Adams said, there are high spots in all of our lives, and most of them have come about through encouragement from someone else.”

Encouragement Makes People Better

Encouragement Turns Lives around.

Encouragement is deciding to make your problem my problem.

Encouragement Gives Hope.

Everybody Needs Somebody.

I grew up in a negative family environment. So I had an introvert personality. I had a lot of anger and frustration. I was discouraged easily. But something happened in my life. My life totally changed when I received a ton of encouragement from my wife for the last 30 years. She used to say daily, “Honey, I respect you. You are the best husband. You are a very successful man. You are a thoughtful and kind man” I am talking about positive encouragement that changed my life.

Please think about how we can encourage our Family, friends and our community. You may paint rainbows with your children to put up in your windows to send messages of hope and positivity to others. Or you can Facetime and call your loved ones to encourage them.

Those four words are some of the most encouraging words to the human ear. That’s why many parents whisper them to their children every night before they go to sleep. “I’m proud of you.” No matter what they did or didn’t do that day, children need to hear those four powerful words: “I am proud of you.”

Whether you are a leader, a parent, a mentor, or someone that others look up to for any reason, your words hold immense power. That’s why it’s critical that your words build others up, not tear them down. They must be encouraging.

Make a commitment today to practicing encouragements with your team, your colleagues, your family, and others and you’ll be well on your way to being a positive influence.

Joshua 1:9; “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” That is huge encouragement from God.

The Lord bless you and keep you in His wonderful encouragement.

Have a blessed day! Blood and Fire!
