Hello Everyone, This is Chaplain Sung Kim. I am Deputy CMD CH in the 63d Readiness Division. I pray you are doing well.
Kim Reichelm is the “extreme skiing” world champion. You may have seen him on television skiing down the peak of a treacherous mountain that looks like certain death for anyone trying to go down it on snowshoes, let alone skis. Some have died on these attempts, and others have become seriously injured, but the sport of extreme skiing is alluring more and more people to the dangerousness of the challenge.
Reichelm, the expert in the sports says, “What you focus your eyes on becomes critical in the woods. Look at the spaces between the trees — the exits where you hope to be traveling.” “The secret is not to stare at what you don’t want to hit.”
What he is talking about is focus. The extreme skier who focuses on the trees is more likely to hit the trees. The one who is looking for the spaces, or the exits, between the trees is going to miss the obstacles.
So, this morning, I want to talk about focus. If we focus on our fears and problems, we will likely go crashing into them. But if we focus on the open places between them, we will likely avoid them.
Reichelm says, “With practice and a little luck, you’ll soon be ripping through the tightest of trees without getting a mouthful of bark.” So we want to learn how to practice with our faith maneuvers to see how we can get through the forest of fear without getting a mouth full of bark.
The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
When we trust in something, we are placing our security in that entity. This trust no room for our own anxiety or worry, but completely entrusts our "being" to God's sovereignty. God will begin to establish our steps and lead us where He needs us.
When we put our attention on things that create anxiety and fear, it only triggers past memories of other events that made us feel anxious and afraid. So keep you focus on those things that create the positive empowering emotions that will keep your head in the right place and direct your actions for optimal outcomes.
So I wanna encourage you today to think about all the good things you can, talk about all the good things you can. We need to focus on the positive things in our life. We pray that our God would help us not to be negative, not to focus on the negative things in life.
Here is Today’s prayer: Father, I come to You out of frustration because VOCID-19 situations. Please help me to overcome all my weaknesses and strengthen my mind. Take full control of my wandering thoughts and give me Your wisdom and knowledge. We pray that you help us learn how to celebrate all the good things that God has done, talk about good things, focus on good things.
Have a blesse day! Blood and fire!
