Hello, Everyone. This is CH Sung Kim. I am Deputy CMD CH in the 63d Readiness Division. I hope you are all doing well.

Recently, I got this email response from our G1 staff: Chaplain Kim,

“You and your staff probably don't get daily thanks and compliments from all of us out here but there have been days that the messages from you and the other chaplains truly got me through the daily struggles we have all been facing, I have saved some of those messages to return to on days that are more challenging. Please know that the daily thoughts of encouragement mean the world to us out here, these messages are a positive outcome from a negative situation.” Thank you so much for kind word.

Please check about your attitude. Did your attitude change in a negative way? Do you more upset, frustrated, angry…so you worried about to hurt someone by harsh speaking and hot temper?

Please don’t forget that you can choose to become upset, exhausted and consumed by all the negativity or you can be a source of encouragement, energy and constructive help by building others up. It all comes down to attitude. It's a bit like the virus because my attitude is contagious too.

An advisor to President Lincoln suggested a certain candidate for the Lincoln cabinet. But Lincoln refused, saying “I don’t like the man’s face.” “But sir, he can’t be responsible for his face,” insisted the advisor. “Every man over forty is responsible for his face,” replied Lincoln, and the subject was dropped.

No matter what you think about your attitude, it shows on your face! We cannot control the beauty of our face, but we can control the expression on it. We cannot control the atmosphere of the world, but we can control the atmosphere of our minds. We are responsible for our attitudes.

When my last daughter was about five years old, she always liked to try new things. One morning she attempted to pour herself a glass of milk from a nearly full gallon jug. I knew that there was going to be a bit of a mess. Well, sure enough, milk splashed out and over the table. Wanting to be patient and encouraging, I said, "That's OK, honey. The important thing is that no milk got on the carpet!" Her answer, was, "No, the IMPORTANT thing is I got some in the glass."

Sometimes we miss the really important things, and a child's perspective can bring us back to reality. What do you have your blessing already in your cup? Have the best attitude today!

Proverbs 17:22: “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” There is a healing effect when we are joyful and cheerful people. The word used for "joyful" here is the Hebrew word "sameah" which means, 'to be glad, happy, or joyful.' The idea behind this word is that someone is choosing to rejoice (It is important to know You can choose rejoice) - to consider the good that God has done, rather than the misery and the opportunity to be sad and depressed. That is why we are to seek to maintain a "joyful" heart.

The Lord bless you and Keep you in his goodness.

Have a blessed day! Blood and Fire!
