Hello, Everyone. This is Chaplain Sung Kim. I am Deputy CMD CH in the 63d Readiness Division. I pray you are well.

We continue to wake up every day to face the amount difficulty this pandemic. Recently, I got an email, “I'm a single mom of two teenagers that are at home as well and currently going through issues of laziness and it is only adding to my stress and frustration.” The mother worried about her children’s future, her health, and her finance. Many of us worry about all kinds of things: Work, relationships, money, health. Some concerns are real, but many are unnecessary.

You may hear about these wisdoms. “Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy.” “Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.” ”People become attached to their burdens sometimes more than the burdens are attached to them.” “Our fatigue is often caused not by work, but by worry, frustration and resentment.”

If we have joy through the storms, we’re probably not worrying too much about what’s to come. If we fear bad news, we’re worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet. We can trust in our heavenly Father to carry us through what’s to come, leaving tomorrow’s problems for tomorrow.

Recently, my mind and soul was not peaceful when I was thinking about my future because I expect to have PCS this summer. So I tried to do my best not to worry about through prayer and meditation. I did not know about even what I am really worry about my PCS and future. I wrote down the list on things which are worrying me. You will not believe me that I got more than 25 things. I try to check on each worrying thing if it is important things I need to worry about or I can solve today. Many of them was nothing can be done or disappear. Only two items can be settled.

This is my suggestions you can do when you experience worry:

  • Write down what you worry about,
  • Write down what you are grateful for,
  • Take a walk in the early morning or evening,
  • Play video games,
  • Listen your favorite music,
  • Watch Netflix,
  • bake a bread or a pizza at home,
  • Stretches to relax the muscles,
  • Talk to a friend or family whom you can trust, and ask for counseling if you can’t sleep.

We should know this. Our children pick up on our anxiety, so it's important to manage our own feelings first. Take deep breaths, go for a walk, or do whatever we need to do to bring our own stress levels down. The best gift for our children is showing how we react to stressful times by coping with anxiety in healthy ways.

We should know this. It is NOT important to understand the why. We just have to look at the facts: We worry too much, and that can destroy our life. It’s more important to focus our attention on addressing worry.

Today’s Scripture: Matthew 6:34 -" Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Today’s Prayer: I come before You to lay my panic and anxiety at Your feet. When I'm crushed by my fears and worries, remind me of Your power and Your grace. Fill me with Your peace as I trust in You and You alone. So, Father, I thank you for being my strength and My God in whom I trust, Amen.

Have a blessed day! Blood and Fire!
