The National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

This year's National Day of Prayer theme is: ”Lord pour out Your LOVE, LIFE, and LIBERTY.” Praying and proclaiming a promise of God in the theme verse, 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Here is a prayer for you:

Almighty God, Thank you for our country. Thank you for our constitution. Thank you for our heritage of freedom.

Thank you for those who have served our country in uniform, so that we could enjoy freedom. Lord, we ask that you would abundantly bless each service man and woman, each veteran, and each military family past and present. Their sacrifice inspires us. They are our country’s beloved heroes.

We face difficult situations in our country because of Coronavirus. But we have faced many difficult times in the past. Let us allow our love of country and patriotism to rise up in us. And Let us seek God's face, repent of our own sins, and be personally re-dedicated to our Lord.

We realize that our country needs prayer.

We pray that each of our leaders would begin to yearn for the wisdom that only you bring. We pray that each one would show respect for you by spending time on his or her knees this national day of prayer. We pray that each would ask for your blessing on our country. Lord, we ask that you would stir each of our leaders to sincerely seek to make wise, godly decisions that would benefit the people of our country.

Give our country new harmony and unity with you and with each other. Stir us to walk in wisdom, in integrity, and in love - toward you and each other.

I pray in your gracious name. Amen!

Have a blessed day! Blood and Fire!
