Welcome

Welcome to the AU Strategy Community of Interest APAN page! This will be a forum where we can share information and resources dealing with the theory and practice of military strategy, including discussions of the identity, roles, and development of those who serve as strategists in various capacities. As the moderator of the forum, I will be uploading various resources to the page in the files section, divided by subject topic, and will also use the blog to post information and announcements relative to our community. While we can certainly spin off additional forums to debate contemporary strategic challenges, and how strategy is viewed by others outside of the military community in the larger context of security studies,, this site will be primarily dedicated to military strategy as it has been and continues to be described by military practitioners and those who seek to assist them through theoretical development, historical research, education, mentoring, and the capture of best practices for the purpose of improving our individual and collective strategic performance today.

This will be a living community of interest and virtual meeting place - if you have suggestions for additions and improvements, please send them to me, and we'll continually iterate and improve as we share and learn from each other.  For full membership, including the ability to post comments and download posted documents, please sign up for a free APAN account when prompted to sign in.

As is the case will all government sponsored publications, I'd like to emphasize that the positions and opinions expressed here in either the posts or the comments do not necessarily express the views or positions of the US Air Force, the Department of Defense, or the US Government unless specifically stated as such. And as a government sponsored page, we reserve the right to delete any comments that do not reflect respect for our military chain of command, the government officials we serve and partner with, and reserve the right to deny membership to any who cannot maintain the norms of respectful dialogue and evidence-based debate that we are establishing here today. We appreciate your help in keeping this a non-partisan, politics-free zone unless we're talking about the relationship between politics, policy, and strategy.

Very respectfully,

Lt Col Dave "Sugar" Lyle
