WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: 

  • Must have a high-school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • * Must have one of the following to be considered for this position:

A four-year undergraduate or Masters's degree in Recreation or another appropriate field of recreation such as Outdoor Recreation, Recreation and Parks Leadership, Wild Land Management, Natural Resources Recreation, Youth Recreation, Public, Urban, or Community Recreation, special populations recreation (e.g. senior citizens, institutional, etc.), Business Management or Physical Education.

OR

Four years of specialized experience in recreation with progression in management experience.

OR

A combination of education and specialized experience • Must demonstrate knowledge of principles in personnel and position management including supervision, selection, hiring, performance management, employee development, and Equal Opportunity Employment.

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of general business principles and skill in cost analysis. • Must be proficient in oral and written communication and be able to follow both verbal and written directions. • Work experience must demonstrate ability to perform multiple job duties with limited supervision. • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, primarily Word, Excel and Internet Explorer. • Ability to maintain a clear and accurate database • Combination of experience related to customer service and/or activity-based functions.
  • Knowledge of recreational programs
  • Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and methods of procedures use in organizing, planning and conducting all types of activities.
  • Ability to create, negotiate, implement and sustain partnerships via various MWR agreements
  • Program planning and leadership skills to devise and implement a leisure and social recreation programs
