Afghanistan Meteorological department was established in 1955, By next year it became the member of World Meteorological Organization and is working under Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA).
AMD has 140 staff and 75 of them are working in remote locations and it has 28 synoptic stations along with 6 automatic weather observation stations. AMD is providing nationwide meteorological services such as Weather observations, forecasts, Early warnings, climatological data and research.
Also Providing meteorological needs of Afghanistan for agriculture, transportation, and civil aviation to decision makers, user communities, and all related sectors.
