The STREAM brain state and the relationship to FLOW

Shelley Carson's Book "Your Creative Brain" provides a test to understand your preferred Brain States.  It wasn't until yesterday that a Future Hunters student pointed out that the test only has two questions that pertain to the STREAM brain state in the Cluster One Questionaire.  So it seems unlikely that the STREAM brain state can be a preferred brain state.

So I started on a journey to find out more about the STREAM brain state.  I found that it is very similar to the FLOW brain state defined by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.

STREAM is conceived as a brain state that facilitates creative performance in a variety of domains.  FLOW is defined as a state of optimal experience.

Two books are recommended on FLOW, both by Csikszentmihalyi, cited above.

The first is "Flow:  the psychology of optimal experience" (A National Bestseller).  The second is "Creativity:  Flow and the Psychology of Discovery and Invention".

The link below gives a review of the Former Book (Kind of like a YouTube Book Review).  After watching the video, I know I will be reading the book very soon.  I will check to see if it is available at the library.

The state of Flow is related to Mindfulness, which we will introduce in later lessons, if we have time.  Mindfulness is taught in elective A710.

You can also check if you are in the STREAM brain state by asking yourself a series of questions that I have attached as a power point slide.

I learned all of this just by one student asking me a very good question. Thank  you!!!
