Tom Pike is a Strategic Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army. He has

studied the application of Complex Adaptive Systems to populations analysis

for the 8 years, has initiated and contributed to Inter-Agency efforts on

this topic and was a representative on Defense Intelligence Socio-Cultural

Capabilities Council. He has served in the Infantry and Military

Intelligence Branches.

Tom is going to discuss possible ways to operationalize the knowledge

provided by complex adaptive systems for use in population analysis. He will

present these ideas by discussing Complex Intelligence Preparation of the

Battlefield, which is an attempt to develop a complexity based analytic

framework which can be used across the US Government.

This talk is part of TRADOC's Mad Scientist initiative. Mad Scientist

comprises a series of events to help the Army think about the evolution of

the Operational Environment (OE), the effects of all aspects of technology

on the future of Armed Conflict, continuously learn, adapt, and innovate,

and allow for broader engagement in problem solving. The current series is

focused on the Megacities and Dense Urban Areas in 2025 and Beyond.

This presentation is UNCLASSIFIED and open to the public.
