Order and Disorder: When two worlds collide: Solid amyloid domains inside liquid droplets, imaged through confocal microscopy. These domains nucleate and mature while being confined inside a liquid droplet. Both components see their properties altered while retaining the fundamental characteristics of their identities. Images such as this one show that it is possible to combine ordered (fibers) and disordered (droplets) components in one system with designed peptide motifs.
