Rapid detection of airborne pathogens: defeating an invisible enemy: In this figure, a typical scenario in which the novel technology we are developing could be used is shown. Then, a zoom-in allows the viewers to see in detail all the steps the viral particles go through, from the aerosol sampling phase to the detection process. If a relevant concentration of viral particles is detected, then timely actions can be taken, helping to reduce the spread of the virus and then to defeat this invisible enemy.
