Moiré Potential Renormalization and Quantum Confinement Induced by Doping: Moiré potential can induce quantum confinement and manifest novel correlated states of electrons. We uncover a hidden many-electron effect/tool: doped carriers can form a two-dimensional plasmon and renormalize moiré potential to enhance quantum confinement and many- electron interactions. This work expands the basic understanding of many-electron interactions at nanoscale. It also sheds light on a powerful tool to obtain regular arrays of quantum dots and realize temperature-robust macroscopic “artificial” cold atoms in solids.
