Big Data Social Media: What's Real and What's Fake

As the world is still trying to get their head around social media and how its being used, for bad and good, we are increasingly concerned about fake news.  As companies, academia and military organziations try to figure out how to make an impact through the use of social media, there are those out there that do not have equal views in terms of making positive impact.  its dog eat dog and always will be. 

Recently there have been some progress toward engineering ways to detect and reduce the amount of misinformation across social media. 

Here are two great examples of universities that are developing algorithms and processes by which to detect and weed out fake information.
