When it comes to our data on the Internet, there is nothing more frustrating that Big Tech companies controlling it and is most cases owning it.  Social Media platforms are one example of big tech companies owning, controlling and in some cases denying access through unilaterally censoring accounts.

What can be done?  In this examination of the future of how the latest web innovations can fix all that there seems to be some merit in Web3.

If you are familiar with the evolution of the internet we started with Web 1.0 then moved to 2.0 which was engineered around data flowing through centralized sources.  Just before the pandemic it was measured that  43% of total net traffic flows through Google (Alphabet), Amazon, Meta (previously Facebook), Netflix, Microsoft and Apple.  A scary proposition especially if you are not in control of your own data.

How do we reclaim big tech’s chokehold?  The last few years of data and privacy concerns is pointing in the opposite direction.  With the third iteration of the internet its time to take back control.

Take a read and tell us what you think about getting back control of your data.
