1300-1400: THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME: UNDERSTANDING HOME CARE SERVICES
The range of home health care services an individual can receive at home is limitless. However, it’s important to do some homework to know the differences and which is the best option for you or your loved one. This class will give you a better understand of the services and answer common questions. What are the signs of when an aging adult may need more help at home? What is the difference between non-medical and medical care services provided at home? What are some private pay options verses Medicare coverage for home care?

DAY 3 - SEP 23
1030-1130: SAFEGUARDING SENIORS: GUARDIANSHIP AND CONSERVATORSHIP
Americans are living longer than ever before and often with more wealth than previous generations. According to the 2016 census, individuals who were then age 65 to 74, are the fastest growing population in America. They also have the highest median net worth according to the US Federal Reserve. Cognitive decline is sometimes a normal part of aging and sometimes it can be due to another factor, such as Dementia. It is important to have a plan in place, in case mental capacity is lost, to avoid costly guardianship and conservatorship proceedings. What is Guardianship and Conservatorship? How can you avoid it? Who can help you put a plan together to assure that you have the documents and protections that you need to live out the rest of your life? Mr. Burns will cover these topics so that you are prepared when health issues arise and it is time to put a plan in action.

1300-1400: END OF LIFE PLANNING – HOSPICE 101
Explanation of hospice care, levels of hospice care, myths about hospice, and information on the county's only inpatient hospice facility.
