Talk Titled: “Guiding Peptide-driven Exfoliation and Organization of 2D Materials”
Abstract and Bio:https://community.apan.org/wg/afosr/m/afosr/441789
Description: Atoms, and photons are the fundamental building blocks of our universe. Their interactions rule the behavior of our physical world but at the same time can be extremely complex, especially in the context of many-body quantum systems. Understanding and harnessing atom-light interactions is one of the major challenges of modern quantum science. In this talk I will explain how ultracold strontium atoms with rich multi-level structure, currently the basis of the most precise atomic clocks, when trapped in optical cavities, can be made to strongly interact both via elastic and dissipative processes. The emergent behaviors have the potential to not only allow us to further advance current state-of-the-art precision metrology, but also to answer cutting-edge questions about complex many-body phenomena and magnetism and to push next generation quantum technologies.
