Mechanics of Multifunctional Materials and Microsystems

Program Objective
The main goals of this program are (a) to promote the utilization of newly emerging materials, nano-devices and microsystems in multifunctional design of advanced structures for higher system efficiency, (b) to bridge the gap between the viewpoints from materials science on one side and structural engineering on the other in forming a scientific basis for the materials development and integration criteria, and thereby (c) to establish safer, more maneuverable aerospace vehicles and platforms with unprecedented performance characteristics.
