You are invited to attend the 2012 Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Natural Materials, Systems & Extremophilles Program Review to be held at the National Museum of the American Indian, Fourth Street & Independence Avenue, S.W. Washington, DC 20560 on January 7-11, 2013. We are looking forward to a stimulating meeting and opportunities for interactions between all participants in the program.
REGISTRATION
Online registration for this meeting will be available 13 August to January 4, 2013.
Please complete your online registration no later than Friday, December 28, 2012. It is very important for you to preregister by the date mentioned above so that the appropriate resources are available for the meeting and attendees. There will be no registration fee for this meeting. The registration desk will be open starting at 7:30 AM each day of the meeting.
ABSTRACTS FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Abstracts will be collected for an electronic book which will be available on the registration website prior to the meeting. Abstracts are not to exceed one page and should be submitted publication-ready to registration@afosr.af.mil by Friday, December 28, 2012. Please include the following in the subject line of your message: For oral presentations, “Abstract – NMS&E Program Review. LODGING
Attendees are responsible for making their own reservations for lodging. A block of rooms has been set-aside at the Residence Inn Washington DC Capitol, 1401 333 E St. SW · Washington, DC 20024 (www.marriott.com/property/propertypage/WASCP), and all rooms are based on the government per diem rate of $189.00 per night plus tax. Check-in time at the Residence Inn Washington DC Capitol is 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Guests arriving prior to 3:00 p.m. will be accommodated as rooms become available. The front desk can provide a baggage storage area for early arrivals or late departures. Reservations must be made by Friday, December 14, 2012. The room rate is based on a first come first serve basis until Friday, December 14, 2012. Reservations can be made by calling 1 800 331 3131 under Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) group block or go online at: www.marriott.com/wascp. Choose your arrival and departure date. MEALS
The museum has two outlets on site, the Mitsitam Café and Espresso Coffee Bar. Mitsitam Cafe is open daily 11 AM–5 PM; Full menu is available until 3 PM and the Mitsitam Espresso Coffee Bar, which serves beverages and light tapas, is open daily 10 AM–5:30 PM. There are also numerous vendors and food outlets available in the surrounding area.
BUILDING INFORMATION
The National Museum of the American Indian houses one of the world’s largest and most diverse collections of its kind. The museum’s sweeping curvilinear architecture, its indigenous landscaping, and its exhibitions, all designed in collaboration with tribes and communities from across the hemisphere, combine to give visitors from around the world the sense and spirit of Native America.

PARKING: The museum does not have parking. Parking is available by meter on the surrounding streets and in local paid parking garages. There are nine bus drop-off-only spaces on Maryland Avenue accessible from 3rd Street.
