E-Intern support to the TRADOC G-2 Exercise Support Directorate:  During the hundreds of individual and collective exercises that OE Training Support Center participated in, it became apparent the Publically Available Information (PAI) variable of the Operational Environment was not being replicated; for this reason the OE TSC created the Information Operations Network (ION).  ION replicates the complexities of the information variable by providing an immersive environment which emulates social media and digital domains.  ION content is housed on closed intranets, unique to each unit exercise and accessed via the web.  This allows the training audience the ability to search web material and social media content specifically built to match their scenario.  ION facilitates the individual and collective training by providing a series of connected material that is unique to the individual exercise scenario, updates in real-time, and can be manipulated by the Exercise Control Cell. ION provides the ability for all phases of the battle staff, to practice operating in, and placing effects on, their digital domain and operational environment.  E-Interns will assist the Exercise Support Directorate efforts to improve ION search functions to mimic current internet.  E-Interns will also assist in the development of a PAI scraping tool to include a geospatial function, and mimicking existing tools employed by DoD.  Exercise Support Directorate Interns will be tasked to work independently and collectively.  Travel to conferences or to attend meetings at TRADOC locations is an option but not a requirement.  Level of effort will be on the order of 4-8 hours per week.
