Using VOIP with Adobe Connect

[toc]

Does APAN provide other options other than VOIP?

APAN Did not purchase the license for integrated audio conferencing / teleconferencing, using Universal Voice or advanced telephony.

Currently, APAN uses the out-of-the-box VOIP technology.

Are there any caveats with using VOIP?

Yes, when using VOIP not all participants have the required hardware such as speakers or a microphone.

Can I utilize my own conference line with Adobe Connect sessions?

Yes, you can utilize your own conference line.

  1. Go to your meeting.  Click Manage Meeting. The Adobe Connect management console will open.
  2. Click Edit Information
  3. Under the gray bar, titled Audio Conference Settings, click the "Include this Audio Conference with this meeting" radial button. Since APAN does not provide Audio Profiles currently skip editing Audio Profiles
  4. Add your conference phone number.
  5. Add your Moderator Code, include any symbols such as an asterisks or pound symbols as required.
  6. Add your Participant Code, include any symbols such as an asterisks or pound symbols as required.
  7. Click Save.

Note:

If you are using DISA's Enterprise Audio Conferencing (EAC) as your main conference line, ensure you follow these steps:

  1. Go to your meeting. Click Manage Meeting. The Adobe Connect management console will open.
  2. Click Edit Information
  3. Under the gray bar, titled Audio Conference Settings, click the "Include this Audio Conference with this meeting" radial button.  Since APAN does not provide Audio Profiles, at this time, skip editing Audio Profiles.
  4. Add your conference phone number.
  5. Add your Moderator Code, include any symbols such as an asterisks or pound symbols as required.  You should have this format:
*, 1-808-123-4567, # 1.  (#1 will start the meeting for the person dialing in.  If this is not added, they will not join the meeting.)
  6. Add your Participant Code, include any symbols such as an asterisks or pound symbols as required.
1234, # (a pound sign is required after the participant code.)
  7. Click Save.

How can I obtain a DISA EAC Conference line?

If you would like more information on DISA's Enterprise Audio Conferencing (EAC) system, please see the links below.  However, APAN does not support DISA's EAC system.

Can I use computer audio AND the conferencing line in combination?

No, this is limited by Adobe Connect. Currently, you can add a conference line and use audio through the conference line, or you can utilize the computer audio/microphone, but you cannot use both. Due to Adobe's audio system limitations, when this feature is used, you can use the audio from the Conference Line.

Why would I want to utilize my own conference line while using Adobe Connect?

If you, or someone on your team, will be using computers with no audio or microphone capability, this may be a solution for you.

Do the same features work within Adobe Connect if I use a conference line?

Yes, most do; however, as with any system, we encourage you to TEST, TEST, TEST to ensure your expectations, and what you think you may be able to will work for your meeting.
