Adobe Connect 11.2.2

[toc]

Adobe Connect Overview

APAN uses Adobe Connect for web conferencing and meetings for community participants.

  • Meetings are live, in real-time.
  • Adobe Connect uses HTML 5
  • To ensure ALL functionality can be utilized, such as screen-sharing, APAN recommends that Hosts and Presenters download the Adobe Connect client.
  • You will be prompted to install and run the Adobe Connect application in the following situations:

    • You attempt to login to a meeting using a previous version of the Adobe Connect meeting application.
    • You attempt to share your screen from a browser.
    • You select “Switch to desktop application” from the meeting context menu.
  • For more info and to download Adobe Connect, click here.
  • If you see FLASH within your Adobe Connect session, speak with your system administrator to remove it from your computer and/or browser.
    • You can see this by identifying a Flash warning on your browser, or a Flash icon appearing next to your name within your Adobe Connect attendee list, you will need to remove it (or, speak with your system administrator to remove Flash, if you do not have access to do so on that device). After it's removed, Download and install the most recent version of Adobe Connect.
    • Technology is constantly improving, and there are often security upgrades and other changes made to software. Always check for updates well before starting a Connect session, and ensure the most recent version of the client application is installed on your device: https://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-connect/connect-downloads-updates.html#Application
  • Meetings are persistent; you only have to create a meeting once.  Adobe Connect is not like Outlook where you have to schedule meeting per event.
  • This means, that your content will always be available.  Anything that is uploaded, will remain persistent to be utilized again.
Refer to APAN Applications Governance section 6 for additional guidelines.
  • Meeting rooms are customizable to serve your conference needs.
    • See - https://community.apan.org/support/w/kb/28890/working-with-pods/
  • If you are a host of a meeting, you may want to ask others to update their Adobe Connect version to avoid problems.  You can identify this information here.

What is new in 11.2.2?

  • Standard view will become the default.
  • Standard View with Enhanced Audio: In this mode, Opus audio codec will be used in the meeting room to give enhanced audio experience to all the attendees. Only users joining from modern browsers in HTML client and new desktop applications are able to join this mode.
    • Caution: When using the Enhanced Audio option, mobile users will not be able to join using the current mobile apps.
  • Q&A Pods are enhanced:
    • The name of the submitter and question now appear on a single line to conserve space and allow for a greater number of questions to be displayed.
    • The answered questions are indicated by a large checkmark.
    • The questions being answered by another moderator are now clearly indicated.
    • The broadcast messages to everyone are now indicated by a mail icon.
  • Hosts can now use 'Select All' and 'Clear All' when selecting users in the Attendees Pod and Breakout Room View.
  • While editing recordings, the start and end 'cut' points can now be snapped to the play-ahead location.
  • The Ellipsis (•••) and Help (?) menus have been combined and updated into a single Help (?) menu.
  • All users can enlarge both the UI and text content in Standard view using CTRL (or CMD) +/-.
