Overview

Have you ever received an email or a document and did not know what it said? APAN provides you several solutions for this situation. Translate text, documents, and the APAN webpage. Need to chat with someone who doesn't speak your same language? No problem, use APAN Group Chat to translate their language to yours, and your language to theirs.

Translate APAN Page

How do I translate the APAN site or page to a different language?

There are two ways you'll be able to translate an APAN page to a different language.

  1. On the login page,APAN Feature pages such as Chat, look at the top right of the page and you will see a button that says English. By default, the APAN page is set to English. Click this button and select a language from the drop down list to translate the text on the APAN pages.
  2. Within your APAN Group you can find the ability to change the language on the lower left-hand corner. You'll see a drop-down stating English.

Translate Text

I have copied text that I need translated, how do I translate the text?

The APAN translate service helps users translate blocks of text.

  1. Go to https://translate.apan.org
  2. Copy the block of text needing translation from the source.
  3. Paste the block of text into the text box .
  4. Select the original language of text in the From drop down.
  5. Select the language you wish the text to be translated in the to drop down
  6. Click Translate.

Translate Documents

You can translate documents in two locations.

  1. https://translate.apan.org
  2. Within your Verint - Media Gallery

How do I translate documents within my Verint Media Gallery?

A group owner must first turn on the feature. To turn on the APAN Group Options, go here.

  1. Upload a file to your Verint Media Gallery
  2. Once the document has finished to upload, select More
  3. Choose the language you wish to translate the document to
  4. Click Save.
  5. The document will be translated on the backend. Once the document has been translated, you will receive an email associated to your registered email that will contain a link to the translated document.
  6. Click the link within the email and you will go to the translated document in your MG. This will be a second document. The original document will remain, as a second file is created.
  7. Please note, depending on the size of the document, it may take some time to complete the translation.
  8. If you do not receive an email, contact APAN Support

What type of documents can I translate within my MG?

  • Documents that can be translated will have text in them. Images with text overlays, may not translate.

How do I translate a Microsoft Word or Excel document? How do I share a translated document?

  1. The translate feature helps APAN users translate Microsoft Word of PowerPoint formats.
  2. Go to https://translate.apan.org.
  3. Click File
  4. Log in, if you are not already. 
  5. Click Select file
  6. Select the document you would like to translate from your computer.
  7. Select the From and To languages you would like to use.
  8. Click Translate.
  9. Your document will appear in the download documents list.
  10. Click [document's title] to download your translated document.
  11. Optionally, you may select to Share the translated document.
  12. Click Options.
  13. Select Share. A share window appears. 
  14. Add the APAN username for the individual you wish to share with.

How do I view a translated document that was shared with me?

  1. Log in to APAN.
  2. Go to https://translate.apan.org.
  3. Click on the Shared with Me tab.
  4. Locate the document that was shared with you.

Why did my text or document not translate well?

The translation is performed by a computer, so there may be unexpected variations within the translation.

Does my information that I translate remain on third-party servers?

  • Yes, your information you translate within your group does remain on third-party servers; however, you have the option to change this.

How do I change the translation setting to APAN servers for my Group? 

If you would like to change third-party settings to servers within APAN for your Group:

  1. Go to your Group.
  2. On your group's home page under Group Administration, click Edit this Group
  3. Click Advanced Options
  4. Under Automatically translate content, select the option you prefer:
  • No Translation - Content will not be translated
  • APAN Translation - Translation by software in-house
  • Third-Party Translation - Translation by third-party

How do I activate Translation on my SharePoint Site?

If you would like to activate Translation on an APAN SharePoint Site:

  1. Go to your Site.
  2. Click Site Settings.
  3. Under Look and Feel, click Advanced Settings.
  4. Within Automatically translate content select the option you prefer:
  • No Translation - Content will not be translated.
  • APAN Translation - Translation by software in-house
  • Third-Party Translation - Translation by third-party

 If the translation button "English" does not show up on the upper left corner of your site, please submit a ticket to ensure the translation feature on your site collection is properly active.

To change the language, individual users will need to select their language, THEN click on their Verint Profile then click back on their SharePoint site.

 

How do I translate documents within my Verint Media Gallery?

  • You can use the above steps and then upload your content, or you can translate directly within a media gallery, here.

 What is the document file size that can be translated?

  •  Users can translate files within media galleries that are 10 MB.
