The 3rd Annual Review for BRI'16 Program on "Avian-Inspired Multifunctional Morphing Vehicles" will be held on 25 March 2019 at the Basic Research Innovation & Collaboration Center (BRICC) which is located at 4100 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 450, Arlington, VA 22203. The meeting will take place in the Research Room B with the breakout room available. Our multi-disciplinary basic research program seeks to understand how morphological and kinematic parameters of bird wings determine the states of unsteady aeromechanics and flight dynamics and to use this information combined with the advances in active materials, networks of distributed sensing and actuation, and self-adaptive neuromorphic signal processing and control capabilities to establish new concepts of ‘fly-by-feel’ morphing wings. Such formidable challenge involving complex research tasks has led to the formation of international team of scientists and engineers recruited from the following institutions: the University of Michigan, Stanford University, University of California at Los Angeles, Texas A&M University, Purdue University, the University of British Columbia, Royal Veterinary College, ETH Zürich and the University of Rome. For your information, the 1st Annual Review for BRI'16 Program was held on 16-17 March 2017 at the Royal Veterinary College, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom and the 2nd Annual Review for BRI'16 Program was held on 22-23 March 2018 at Stanford University, Stanford, CA.
