2022 Energy Consequences of Information WorkshopFebruary 16-18, 2022

Purpose of Meeting:DoD and DoE will be holding a joint workshop on Energy Consequences of Information, February 16-18, 2022. We expect 100-125 participants from government, industry, and academia for the purposes of:● Understanding the state-of-the-art in energy optimization and utilization for informationprocessing, including computation, storage, and transfer, within platforms ranging frommobile devices to data centers and supercomputing centers● Surveying current technologies and articulating areas requiring research, development, andcollaboration● Leveraging community expertise in emerging technology to brainstorm new researchpathways● Developing a rational roadmap for fundamental research and technology development● Discussing the potential roles of government, industry, and academia
Challenges in energy consumption in computation span scales from mobile devices, throughsatellites and military vehicles, to data- and high-performance computing centers. We hope thisworkshop will facilitate cross-pollination across these technologies
