The 6th Multifunctional Materials for Defense Workshop will be held on December 5-6, 2022 at the Basic Research Innovation & Collaboration Center (BRICC) which is located at 4100 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 450, Arlington, VA 22203. This DoD-wide forum on “multifunctional materials and structures” will be held in conjunction with the 2022 Annual Grantees’/Contractors’ Meetings for: AFOSR Program on "Mechanics of Multifunctional Materials & Microsystems (M^4)" (PO: Dr. B.-L. (Les) Lee), ARO Program on "Mechanical Behavior of Materials" (PM: Dr. Daniel Cole) and ONR Program on "System Health Management & Multifunctional Materials" (PO: Dr. Ignacio Perez De Leon). We are certain all attendees will benefit from being exposed to the diverse talent and spectrum of multifunctional materials and structures that constitute the heart and depth of this novel Workshop. The following series of Multifunctional Materials for Defense Workshops were successfully organized in the past: the 1st Workshop in 2010 with a theme of “Energy and Power,” the 2nd Workshop in 2012 with a theme of “Sensing, Actuation & Energy Transduction,” the 3rd Workshop in 2014 with a theme of “Blurring the Distinction between Materials and Devices,” the 4th Workshop in 2017 with a theme of “Design and Performance of Autonomic, Adaptive and Self-sustaining Systems,” and the 5th Workshop in 2019 with a theme of “Intelligent Sensing, Learning and Adaptation of Bio-inspired Systems.”
