Embed a Forum

[toc]

You can use forum embedding to provide a commenting function from external websites that would otherwise not be supported. For example, a sports site might use the forum embed feature on article pages to feed comments back to their community.

Each page where the embed code is added serves as a separate thread in the forum. The comments are visible on the page where the forum is embedded and also on the community site forum page.

  1. Navigate to the forum you want to embed.
  2. Mouse over Management.
  3. Click Manage forum. The Manage Forum panel appears.
  4. Click Forum embedding. The Forum embedding panel appears.
  5. Fill in or select from the following options:
    1. Enable embedding - Click Enable embedding to enable embedding this forum. This also causes the Embed code to appear.
    2. Enable Embedding on All Domains - If you select this check box, the forum can be embedded on any external website. If you select No, you can limit the embedding to domains you specify in the next option.
    3. Allowed domains - If you chose no for Enable embedding on all domains, you can specify each domain on a separate line. Localhost is added by default.
    4. Create new threads as - The user under whose name initial forum posts will be created on the remote site.
  6. Under Embed code, copy the entire snippet of code.
  7. Save your changes to the Embed panel.
  8. Paste the line of embed code into the remote site. Comments typed into the "Add a Comment" field will be displayed on the external site embed page, and will also be displayed on the source forum page.
