Add External Data

1. Click Edit Map.  

2. Click Add Data.  The Add Data panel will appear.

3.  Determine if you wish to upload a file or add a URL.

(To add a file, jump to step 8.)

4.  To add URL data, click the URL tab.

5.  Select the Endpoint type

6.  Add your URL. Data will only appear if the information is PUBLIC within the URL that you have added. 

NOTE:  All URLs should have https, including URLs referenced within files, such as KML. If your URL does not have an https, it will not work per security reasons.

7.  Click add URL.  

NOTE:  Example URLs are available for testing.  Click Show Examples.  A list will appear with examples.

8.  When complete, "X" out of the Add Data Panel.  

9.  Click Update Map to save your work.

Add a File

10.  As a user, you can add files. Click the file tab.

 

 11.  If your group contains files within Media Gallery you wish to add to the map, click Select Media Gallery. A list of Media Galleries within the group will appear.

12.  If you wish to add a file that contains KML or GeoJSON. Drag and drop the file or click Browse to locate the file to add.

13.  Select the Media File within the Add Layer for Selected Media File drop down.

14.  "X" out of the Add Data Panel.

15.  Click Update Map, to save your work.

Alternate method for uploading files:

  1. Go to your preferred Media Gallery.
  2. Upload your GeoJSON or KML file and in the tags section utilize either the "KML" or "GeoJSON" tag depending on the file type.
  3. Return to your Map and click the "Add Data" button.
  4. Select the "File" tab.
  5. Select the "Media Gallery" dropdown menu and the Media Gallery to which the file was uploaded to.
  6. Select the "Add Layer for Selected Media File" dropdown.
  7. Select the title of the file that was previously uploaded.
  8. Confirm the file is in the Map app by selecting the "Manage Layers" tab at the top and is listed in the Layers list.
  9. "X" out of the Add Data Panel.
  10. Click "Update Map, to save your work.

 

What are file size limitations?

  • KML file size limitations are 10MB.
