Manage Email

This section discusses email and notifications pertaining to your APAN Account. See more information on receiving live alerts, emails or subscriptions for content related updates; see the related information below.

Registered Email

Your registered email is the email address you used when you registered for an account. It is used primarily for account administration including retrieval of username, password reset and account verification purposes.

How do I update my Registered Email?

  1. Click on your avatar at the top right of the page.
  2. Go to My Account.
  3. Click Edit in the appropriate section to edit your private email address.
  4. Click Save.

How do I update my registered email if my email address changed?

In the event this process cannot be performed, you will need to provide a security validation directly to APAN Support.

You may do this by selecting one of the following ways.

  • Send an email to support@apan-info.net from your registered / private email address with your request.
  • Send an email to support@apan-info.net that is digitally signed and verified with your request.

Is my registered email address shared?

No, your registered email is private and is not shared.

Recovery Email

APAN's recovery email allows users to add another email to your account. This email is used in case you get locked out, APAN will send an email to the alternate, recovery email, to assist you recover your username or password. The recovery email works as a backup. We will also use your recovery email to communicate with you in case you get locked out of your account.

I am locked out of my account, and I am traveling.  How do I unlock my account? 

If you added a recovery email account, please check that email. You will be able to reset your password using that email address.

I did not set my Recovery Email prior to my trip. How do I unlock my account?

Please contact APAN Support.

How do I edit my Recovery Email?

  1. Click your avatar at the top right of the page.
  2. Go to My Account.
  3. Click Edit in the appropriate section to edit your recovery email address.
  4. Click Save.

Do I have to use a Recovery Email?

No, you do not have to use a recovery email; however, having one makes it easy for you to gain access if you are traveling and do not have access to your primary email account.

How do I bypass the Recovery email page?

When you're on the page, select NEVER under the "Remind me later" drop down.

Or

Simply click your username on the top right-hand corner and select My Community Profile. It will take you directly to your APAN Profile. We recommend adding a Recovery Email and you will have a way to manage your account if you are traveling away from your email.

Public Email

Your public email is used within the APAN community so that others may contact you directly.  

How do I add or update my Public Email?

  1. Log into your APAN account.
  2. Select Profile (avatar) > Settings at the top right of the page.
  3. Within the Public Email text box and add, edit or delete your public email address.
  4. Select Save.

Manage Notifications

You may receive email notifications for various items. 

Why am I receiving a password expiration email?

Please update your password! A notification is sent 7 days prior to the password expiration. The email notification contains a link to the password expiration page which allows you to change the password.

Why am I receiving a message to join an APAN Community, though I did not request group access?

A new APAN community may have been created. You are requested to be a participating member by someone you likely know.  If you receive an email, identify who the group owner is and verify if that individual is someone you work with or you could ask other colleagues if they received something similar.

I'm receiving too many email notifications from my APAN Group. How do I adjust the frequency?

  1. Click your avatar in the upper right corner.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Click the Email Digests tab.
  4. Adjust the frequency of your email settings under Email Digests.
  5. Locate the Group you wish adjust the notifications for.
  6. Adjust the Frequency from the drop-down list.

I do not want to receive any email notifications. How do I turn these off?

  1. Click on your avatar in the upper right corner.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Under Notifications, deselect Send Notifications.  This should stop all emails related to content updates for which you are subscribed.
  4. Please note, password update messages will still be sent.

I do not wish to receive HTML emails. How do I adjust this setting?

  1. Click your avatar.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Under Notifications, deselect Receive HTML emails.


Why am I not receiving email notifications within my Verint Group?

With the APAN 8 upgrade, you may need to adjust your Verint Group Notifications.

  1. Go to your profile.
  2. Click Settings. The Profile Settings page appears.
  3. Identify if your email is correct.
  4. Select Enable email contact.
  5. Click Notifications in the top right tab.
  6. Turn on the corresponding notifications you'd like to receive.
  7. Click Save.

 

Notifications Settings

The Notifications tab of Settings lets you specify how and when you want to be notified of events.  By default, users receive notifications when any triggering activity occurs. On your notifications tab, you can choose whether or not to receive notifications for all, or none of the notification types.

How do I manage my APAN notifications?

  1. Navigate to the Settings > Notifications page.
  2. Scroll to the following sections and make your selections:
    1. Activity from subscriptions – These notifications include what you are subscribed to.
      1. Blog posts in blogs to which you are subscribed.
      2. Comments on blog posts to which you are subscribed.
      3. Replies to a thread I'm subscribed to.
      4. Creates threads in forums to which you are subscribed.
      5. Comments on media files to which you are subscribed..
      6. New media in galleries of which you are an owner.
      7. Comments on wiki pages to which you are subscribed.
      8. Updates a wiki page to which you are subscribed.
    1. Activity from your network - These notifications include actions other members take in relation to the member for example following or mentioning them they include the following:
      1. Approves my friendship request.
      2. Requests my friendship.
      3. Follow me
      4. New group invitation.
      5. Approves my friendship request.
      6. New group memberships not added by you.
      7. Membership request in groups to which you are an owner.
      8. Mentions my groups.
      9. Mentions me.
      10. Sends me a private message or replies to my private message.
    2. Activity related to content you write - These notifications include actions that other members take in relation to the content the member creates for example replying to a forum question/discussion or liking content.                                                                                                                           They include the following:
      1. Comments on content that I comment on.
      2. Comments on content that I write.
      3. Replies you created awaiting moderation.
      4. Replies to my question or discussion.
      5. Threads you created awaiting moderation.
      6. Replies to a question or discussion I have replied to or suggested an answer to.
      7. Suggests an answer to my question.
      8. Verifies a reply as an answer to my question.
      9. Forums requiring moderation.
      10. Likes content I write.
      11. Rates content I write.
  3. To receive an email notification for a type listed in the previous step, select its left-column check box. To stop receiving such notifications, deselect the left check box.
  4. To receive live alerts for a notification, select the right-column check box. To discontinue receiving both notifications and Live Alerts, deselect the left-column check box.
  5. Click Save.
