Email Addresses and Notifications

Registered & Recovery Email

Your Registered Email is the primary email used for account activities like retrieving your username, resetting passwords, and verifying your account. A Recovery Email serves as a backup to regain access if you're locked out.

  • To Update Your Registered or Recovery Email:

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner.
  2. Select My Account.
  3. Click Edit next to your email information.
  4. Save your changes.
    Note: If you can't update your email, submit a ticket here: https://www.apan.org/pages/support using our Fix Something portal.

Manage Notifications

  1. You can control how often you receive emails or notifications about your APAN groups and content subscriptions.
  2. To manage notifications:
    • Go to Settings > Email Digests.
    • Adjust the frequency for specific groups or notifications.
    • Save your changes.
  3. If you wish to stop all email notifications:
    • Go to Settings > Notifications.
    • De-select Send Notifications.
    • Save your settings.
      Note: Platform emails such as "Forgot username," "Enable account," and "Password resets" will still be sent.

Advanced Notification Settings:

APAN’s notification settings allow you to fine-tune when and how you receive updates:

  • Types of Notifications You Can Manage:
    • Activity from Subscriptions: Updates from blogs, forums, and media you subscribe to.
    • Activity from Your Network: Actions by other members involving you, like friend requests, group invitations, or private messages.
    • Activity Related to Content You Write: Notifications about comments, replies, or moderation of content you’ve created or interacted with.

To Manage Your Notification Preferences:

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  2. Choose which types of notifications you want to receive for each activity category:
    • Email notifications
    • Live alerts for real-time updates (displayed in the banner).
  3. Select the left checkbox for email notifications and the right checkbox for live alerts.
  4. Save your selections.
    This allows you to receive only the most relevant notifications, reducing unwanted alerts and organizing your inbox.
