1. Creating and Updating Your APAN Profile

Your APAN profile includes your photo or avatar and an introductory general, professional, and contact information section. Completing your profile helps others understand your background, potentially fostering valuable APAN connections.

  1. Go to the APAN homepage, https://apan.org, and click Create Account in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Complete the registration page.
  3. Check your email and validate your email message was sent.
  4. Please copy and paste the link in your email into your web browser to complete your APAN registration.
  5. Once your email is validated, finish the Join APAN form and select your password and security image.
  6. Click Create Account; a system-generated username will be provided to you.
  7. Log into your account.

Profile Accessibility

Since APAN accounts are publicly accessible, anyone on the internet can create an APAN account and view profiles. Be mindful only to share information you’re comfortable making public.


2. Managing Your APAN Settings

You can update various settings in your APAN profile according to your needs. Follow these steps to manage and customize your profile.


A. Changing Profile Settings

  1. Click your avatar in the upper right corner.
  2. Select Profile from the dropdown.
  3. Click Edit Profile at the bottom right under your banner.
  4. Make any changes.
  5. Click Save Profile to apply updates.

B. Changing Your Avatar or Profile Picture

  1. Click your avatar in the upper right.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Click Edit Profile.
  4. Click Change over your current avatar.
  5. Update your avatar:
    • To upload a new image:
      • Click Browse, select an image, then click Upload.
    • To use an APAN-created avatar:
      • Click Select and choose an available option.
  6. To remove your avatar, click Remove Avatar.
  7. Click Save Profile.

C. Changing Your Profile Banner/Cover Photo

  1. Click your avatar in the upper right.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Click Edit Profile.
  4. Click Set Cover Photo above your avatar.
  5. Update your cover photo:
    • To upload a new image:
      • Click Browse, select an image, then click Upload.
    • To use an APAN-created cover:
      • Click Select and choose an option.
  6. To remove your cover photo, click Remove Cover Photo.
  7. Click Save Profile.

D. Changing Your Display Name

Your display name appears at the top right and can be updated in profile settings.

  1. Click your avatar in the upper right.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Click Edit Profile.
  4. Click Edit next to your display name.
  5. Go to your self-service page.
  6. Click Edit next to the Display Name field.
  7. Save changes.
  8. Display names must be 1-100 characters long and cannot include @, <, or >.
  9. Display name updates sync with other APAN applications within 10 minutes.

E. Changing Tabs Within Your APAN Profile

Tabs in your profile (e.g., activity, group) are set by default and cannot be modified by users.
