Private Messages

[toc]

Message Layout

Verint/Telligent has an easy-to-read layout with the list of conversations in the left pane of the page and conversation detail on the right. The conversation list and the list of messages both have endless scrolling to make it easy to find the desired conversation.

Message notifications

Members receive real-time private message notifications in the navigation bar "Notifications" or in Live Alerts without needing to refresh the screen.

  • Clicking the Messages icon causes it to display a short list of private messages including sender avatars.
  • Clicking any message displays the full conversation.
  • Clicking See more in the messages list causes the whole inbox to be displayed

Live Alert

Another notification method for private messages is a Live Alert. This is a small, temporary pop-up appearing in the browser window. Mousing over the alert keeps it visible until it's closed. Otherwise, it disappears after five seconds.

Members can configure whether to receive private message notifications or Live Alerts in their Settings > Notifications tab.

Viewing and Responding to Private Messages

Enable private messages and notifications in your settings

The Settings tab contains two settings regarding private messages:

  1. On the Notifications tab, [Notify me when someone] Sends me a private message or replies to my private message.
  2. Enable private message notifications - This setting is enabled by default. It means that you will receive notifications when you're sent a private message

Allow private messages from

This item on the Options tab lets you choose whom to receive messages from.

The options include:

  • No one (that is, no one can send you private messages)
  • Friends only (only users who are your friends can send you private messages)
  • All users (any user can send you a private message)

View your private messages

When you click View all in the message list or click a Live Alert, the Inbox appears. The conversations are listed with the newest first.

  • Clicking the conversation displays all the private messages in it.
  • Note that from the Inbox, you can add a conversation by clicking New or delete a conversation with Delete.
  • Reply to the message by clicking Reply.

Respond to your private messages

When you click New or Reply, the enhanced text editor opens for you to create a new conversation or compose a reply.

Locations where you can send a private message
