Content editing is used throughout the community. You can choose which kind of editor you want - Plain text or Enhanced - in your Settings > Options tab.
The information below applies to the enhanced editor. This editor includes a toolbar of options and a content area.
Inserts an anchor.
To give yourself more editing room, you can toggle the content window into full-screen mode. This mode supports all editing functions but spell check. You can toggle back and forth easily from one mode to the other without saving the content.
To toggle between regular and full screen mode:
Almost any kind of file can be dragged and dropped onto a blog, forum, media, or wiki post. This action works similarly to the Insert Image button or Insert Media button on the enhanced text editor toolbar.
When a file is dragged onto a post:
You can embed a file into any kind of content post using the editor Insert Media button. This will allow you to:
Using this feature, a poll can be inserted into content with the Insert button on the Enhanced Text Editor.
To add a poll to content:
To vote for a poll option, select the desired poll option and click Vote.
To see results, click View results.
To view the User Vote Report, click User Vote Report.
Here, you can click on the poll to view it, or click the number of votes to see who voted for each option.
You can use pinning to incorporate external URLs (including media) in a media gallery. Pinning is similar to adding a URL to the media gallery, except that it works for previously unsupported URLs.
When the URL is entered and it cannot be interpreted as a supported media type, the Telligent Group uses the URL file viewer and retrieves that URL, then inspects it to retrieve title, site, and description information. It also looks for a valid, usable image in the source. All of the extracted information is then stored. From that point on, the preview is based on this extracted data, saved locally. Periodically, the preview will be reloaded to stay up to date.
Thus there is no direct reference from the preview to the remote Internet site; and your Telligent Group isn't dependent on the remote site for keeping images because it downloads the image and stores it locally to ensure that, as long as your Telligent Group provides a link to the image, it continues to exist.
Pinning works only within Media Galleries.
When Pinning URLs within the same Group, the permissions of the user viewing the preview are taken into account. URLs referencing a forum thread, for example, will show the forum thread's title and excerpt with the group's logo to users with permission to read the thread.
Telligent Groups supports a wide variety of file formats for upload and movie play. The following extensions are supported.
