Mentions

The Verint platform mention service incorporates a member's username, a group name, or an application name into messages and comments. After the post is saved, the mentioned name turns into a link. Others can follow the link to the user's profile or to the home page. With profile or group information, other community members can determine whether they'd like to add the mentioned user as a friend or follow, or whether they'd like to join or subscribe to the mentioned group.

Upon being mentioned, the user or group receives a notification, and the mention is displayed in their Mentions tab. They can also receive live alerts about mentions. For groups, the mention appears in the Navigation widget Mentions tab and the Group - Links Mentions tab.

A registered user can mention community members by their username or display name, group names, or applications from the following inputs:

  • Status message
  • Blog posts
  • Media gallery posts
  • Wiki posts
  • Forum threads and replies
  • Comments

Verint uses mentions to incorporate a community member into status messages, content, or comments.

How to Use Mentions

Using the "@" symbol, you can create a link from a username, group name, or application name inside a post, comment, reply or status message. The mention will alert users or group members that they've been added. Note that mentioning is optional. You can still type a name in content without creating the link.

Mention a User

  1. In an Activity Story Stream status message or comment, application post, post comment or forum thread/reply, type the username, starting with @, in the post window. A drop-down list of possible matches appears.
  2. Select the correct choice from the drop-down list. After you make your selection, the username name has a blue box around it and the @ symbol is gone.
  3. Hit Enter or click Share or Post as appropriate to the place where you're mentioning.

Mention a Group

  1. In an Activity Story Stream status message or comment, application post, post comment or forum thread/reply, type the group name, starting with @, in the post window. A drop-down list of possible matches appears.
  2. Select the correct choice from the drop-down list. After you make a selection, the group name has a blue box around it and the @ symbol is gone.
  3. Hit Enter or click Share or Post as appropriate to the place where you're using the @mention.

Mention an application

  1. In an Activity Story Stream status message or comment, application post, post comment, or forum thread/reply, type the application name, starting with @ and the group name, in the post window. A drop-down list of possible matches appears.
  2. Select the correct choice from the drop-down list. After you make your selection, the name has a blue box around it and the @ symbol is gone.
  3. Hit Enter or click Share or Post as appropriate to the place where you're mentioning.
