AFOSR 60th Anniversary Series: Dr. Rajesh Naik

As AFOSR celebrates its sixth decade as the manager of the United States Air Force basic research program, throughout the year, we will bring together an outstanding and diverse group of contributors, who best highlight the importance of AFOSR’s research contributions through their groundbreaking work.

On Wednesday, 25 April, 2012 from 1300 to 1400, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) will host Dr. Rajesh Naik as the guest speaker at our AFOSR 60th Anniversary Commemorative Seminar Series.  The talk will be held in at the American Trucking Association (ATA) at 950 North Glebe Road, 2nd floor, Arlington, Virginia.

Area Parking
There is a parking garage at 950 N Glebe.  It is $16.00 to park and it's privately owned.  The least expensive parking option is at the Ballston Mall which is $1.00 an hour (best bargain in town). That is about a 15 minute walk from 950 N. Glebe. See a map of area parking.

Speaker's Bio

B.S. Microbiology, University of Bombay, India (1990)
M.S. Biological Sciences, Duquesne University (1992)
Ph.D. Biological Sciences, Carnegie-Mellon University (1998)

Rajesh joined the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in 1999 as a research scientist. Prior to joining AFRL, Rajesh held a Howard Hughes Research Associate Fellowship at Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine, Rutgers University. He was appointed Biotechnology Direction Leader in June 2005, and is currently the Bio Research Lead and Technical Advisor for the Nano-Bio branch (RXBN) in the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate.

He has authored/co-authored over 110 journal papers/book chapters, and several conference proceeding papers. His awards include the Air Force Star Team Award for Basic Research, the Air Force Civilian Achievement Award and the Vince Russo Award for Leadership Excellence. He was recently selected SPIE fellow (2009). His research interests are in the area of bionanotechnology and biomimetics with focus on biosensing, materials and protein engineering.
