You are cordially invited to attend two back-to-back meetings of the 2012 Annual Grantees'/Contractors' Meeting for AFOSR “Mechanics of Multifunctional Materials & Microsystems (M^4)” Program and the 2nd Multifunctional Materials for Defense Workshop with a theme of "sensing, actuation and energy transduction." Both meetings will be held July 30-August 3, 2012 at Hilton Arlington, 950 North Stafford Street, Arlington, VA 22203. The 2nd Multifunctional Materials for Defense Workshop is organized in conjunction with the annual review meetings of AFOSR M^4 Program (PM: Les Lee) as well as ONR Program on “Non-Destructive Evaluation & Prognostics: Advanced Sensors and Technologies” (PM: Ignacio Perez). We are looking forward to a stimulating meeting and opportunities for interactions between all participants in the program.
REGISTRATION
Online registration for this meeting will be available 20 June to 27 July 2012.
Please complete your online registration no later than Friday, July 27, 2012. It is very important for you to preregister by the date mentioned above so that the appropriate resources are available for the meeting and attendees. There will be no registration fee for this meeting. The registration desk will be open starting at 7:30 AM each day of the meeting.
ABSTRACTS FOR ORAL AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Abstracts will be collected for an electronic book which will be available on the registration website prior to the meeting. Abstracts are not to exceed one page and should be submitted publication-ready to registration@afosr.af.mil by Friday, July 27, 2012. Please include the following in the subject line of your message: For oral presentations, “Abstract – M^4 Program Review. A Microsoft Word attachment is the preferred method. The one-page oral abstracts may later be posted on the AFOSR web site. If you have any other specific requirements for your oral presentation please contact Alea Stewart (Alea.Stewart@afosr.af.mil, 703-696-7307).
LODGING AND MEALS
Attendees are responsible for making their own reservations for lodging. A block of rooms has been set aside at the Hilton Arlington, 950 North Stafford Street, Arlington, VA 22203 (http://hiltonarlington.com), and all rooms are based on the prevailing government per diem rate per night, plus tax. Reservations must be made by Friday, July 6, 2012, and can be made directly with the hotel by calling (703) 528-6000. The room rate is based on availability until Friday, July 6, 2012, or until space is filled. Reservations made after that time will be based on availability at the hotel’s prevailing rates. The Group Code for our room block is “MMM”. Make your reservations early to secure a room. Check-in time at the Hilton Arlington is 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12:00 p.m. Guests arriving prior to check-in will be accommodated as rooms become available.
The Hilton Arlington hotel is offering all-day beverage service for $5.00 per person/per day for the entire week. Please pay at the registration desk each morning if you intend to participate.

The Hilton Arlington Hotel is offering daily lunch selections (this does not include hot items) which will consist of at least 3-4 selections per day to include: choice of a deli sandwich, vegetarian option or a salad entree. All selections include a bag of chips, a baked cookie and a bottled water or fountain soda. All lunch selections are priced at $18.00 inclusive of tax and service charges. There will only be two payment options available (cash or room charge).
